A breathalyser contributes to a safer and more responsible traffic environment by reducing the risk of alcohol-related accidents and injuries. Often, it is a prerequisite to be included in tenders. A breathalyser ensures your brand's good reputation and removes the risk of not being insured in case of an accident.

What is an alcolock?

A breathalyser is a technical device connected to the car's ignition system. Before starting the car, the driver has to blow into a nozzle, so that the moisture in the exhaled air is checked. The alcolock verifies that the driver is not above 0.2 per mille. If the driver is under the influence of alcohol above the limit, the vehicle cannot be started.

Breathalyser - for the administrator

If an attempt is made to tamper with the alcolock, an alarm will sound. An alarm will also sound if a driver is over the alcohol limit so that you can take appropriate action.

Should the alcolock malfunction, you can override the immobiliser by contacting our support so that the driver can continue driving if the device has alarmed incorrectly, e.g. on the use of hand sanitizer, mouthwash, etc. We can unlock in real time.

Calibration, servicing and updating of your breathalyser is included - we'll send you a new breathalyser once a year. This saves you taking your car to the workshop and saves you time.

No, there are no such legal requirements in Sweden. However, an increasing number of companies, authorities and municipalities have introduced alcolock requirements in their organisations and among their partners.

No, not yet. There is a legislative proposal to equip all heavy goods vehicles and commercial vehicles with alcolocks, but the law has not yet been adopted.

Installation costs vary depending on the type of vehicle. All alcolocks need to be calibrated and serviced at least every 12 months. In our solutions, this cost is included in the monthly fee.

Yes, you can. Our alcolocks can be installed in most types of vehicles. In addition to cars, they can also be installed in, for example, forklifts, forestry machines, key cabinets and the like.

Yes, we have a number of authorised installers around the country who offer on-site installation.

When service/calibration is approaching, information about this is shown in the alcolock display. The user then contacts their installer or Northtracker to book an appointment. The service itself takes only a few minutes, as you simply replace the handset in the vehicle with a new, updated and calibrated unit.

An alcolock is a device installed in a vehicle that prevents the engine from being started if the driver has alcohol in their breath. The technology is based on a sensor that measures the alcohol content in the breath. If the level exceeds the preset value (0.2 per mille in Sweden), the vehicle cannot be started.

The Northtracker alcolock consists of a handset and a control unit that is installed in the vehicle. Before the vehicle can be started, the driver must blow into the handset. If the test is passed, the vehicle can be started, otherwise the start is prevented.

In addition to vehicles, alcolocks can also be installed in, for example, access gates and key cabinets.

Features. Northtracker's B1000 alcolock has a built-in SIM card and communicates via 4G, making it possible to both receive and send data. If you want to get GPS position, the alcolock can be paired with one of Northtracker's GPS devices.

All activities in the alcolock are logged. The Northtracker B1000 can send notifications directly in the event of, for example, a "red flag" (positive test). However, it is up to the employer to decide how to use this information.

What it does. The Northtracker B1000 is connected via 4G and can send real-time reports and alerts.

We can only see the actual blowing results, not who has blown. This information is only available to you as a company.

Northtracker's B1000 alcolock is a modern lock with the latest technology and is approved according to CENELEC EN50436-1/2. The risk of incorrect readings is therefore very small.

All alcolocks need a certain warm-up time that varies depending on the temperature. The Northtracker B1000 has a short warm-up time and is quickly ready for use. With an approved temperature range of -40 to +85°C, reliable operation is ensured in all conditions.

It is important to choose an alcolock that is approved according to CENELEC EN50436-1 and -2. This means that the lock has undergone extensive testing to ensure reliability and functionality. Northtracker fulfils all these requirements.

All alcolocks approved according to CENELEC EN50436-1/2 have the basic function of preventing the vehicle from starting if the driver exceeds the breath alcohol limit. However, other functionality may differ. Northtracker, Dräger and Dignita are approved according to the standard. Northtracker is currently the only one to offer a cloud-based alcolock, which enables smart features such as instant notifications for positive breath tests and management and updates "Over the Air" (OTA) without a workshop visit.
