Get started with your Machine Easy

Quick guide

Here is a step-by-step guide to help you set up your theft protection from NorthTracker.

First, download the app.
Then register your account.
You can now install your device.
Set up at least one security zone.

You’re all set!

Extra tips on features we think you’ll benefit from

Depending on which device you’ve chosen to install, there are different additional features available. Here are some general tips:

Add more users so multiple people can share the account and use the features.
Create additional alarm recipients so alerts are sent to more people. You can add both account users and people who are not on the account – just enter their email address and phone number.
Add an object description so the device is easier for the police or insurance company to identify.
Enable voltage alerts to receive notifications if your device loses power.
Connect sensors such as door sensors, temperature sensors, and humidity sensors to monitor cabin access and climate conditions.

1. Download the app

2. Register an account

Click “Register here”
Select “Business” or “Private”
Choose country
Scan the IMEI number (found on the front of the device)
Enter where you purchased the device
Enter your company name (only if you selected Business above)
Enter your first and last name
Enter your email address
Enter your personal ID number (12 digits) / organization number
Enter your address details
Enter your phone number
Create a password
Choose paper invoice or digital invoice (Private only)
Verify that your details are correct
Read and accept the terms and conditions
Done

3. Start and place the device

Connect the device to an external power source.
Place and hide the device carefully.
- Note: The tracker must have contact with GPS satellites.
- Avoid placing it under metal or carbon fiber, as this may reduce signal reception.

4. Create a security zone / geofence

Click the menu in the top right corner
Select “Security zone”
Click + in the top right corner
Select the area where the tracker will be located
Name your security zone
Set the radius of the security zone (minimum 300 m)
Save
Done

Now that you’ve started using your NorthTracker Theft Protection, there are additional features we think you may want to use.

1. Add more users

Click the menu in the top right corner
Select “Account”
Click the person icon with the plus sign in the top right corner
Enter contact details and select permission level
Save
Swipe the user to the left to edit device permissions
Select devices
Save
Done

2. Create additional alarm recipients

Click the menu in the top right corner
Select “Alarm recipients”
Click + in the top right corner
Select an existing user or create a new alarm recipient
Choose where alarms should be sent (email/phone number – push notifications can only be sent to existing users)
Select which alarms should be sent (Security alarms/Function alarms)
Save
Swipe left and select the devices the recipient should receive alarms from
Save
Done

3. Object description

Please fill in the object description to help insurance companies and the police in the event of theft.

Click Device
Select “Object description”
Enter the details of your object
Save
Done

4. Set voltage alarm

Click “Device” in the lower left corner
Select “Functions”
Enable Low battery voltage warning
Select the interval at which a function alarm should be sent when the voltage drops below the threshold
Save
Done

5. Connect sensors

Click the menu in the upper right corner
Select “Add device”
Enter the sensor’s MAC address and give it a name
Connect the sensor to the GPS device (this enables Bluetooth on the GPS device)
Select what you want to receive alarms for and set the interval or schedule
Save
Install the sensor within range of the GPS device
Done

Your object is now added and tracked by the system. Monitor the tracker via the app or web portal.

If the device triggers an alarm

If the GPS tracker leaves a security zone, an alarm can be sent via email, push notification and SMS to the alarm recipients you have added to the system.

Note: This number is only used in case of theft.
